Dress rehearsal for Stockport Garrick’s latest studio production. “The Children” by Lucy Kirkwood tells of the effect that a nuclear accident has on three former employees at the power station. The play is not about radiation poisoning but about whether these characters will make the ultimate sacrifice to go back to the plant they left 20 years ago to work on shutting it down, and whether that decision is easier or more difficult if they have children.
Over the course of 100 minutes, we learn not only about the recent disaster but also about the history of the relationships between the three characters.
Photographing a play in a studio setting is always difficult. I have to make sure that the images that are used for publicity purposes don’t show the empty seats. (It was a rehearsal not a performance after all).
I particularly like the use of the light blue colour theme that runs throughout the props and costumes used in this play.
Settings: 1/125s, f/4.5, ISO 6400. Lens: EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM @35 mm.
