Great Spotted Woodpecker (Image Reference: 20190615A-G9137)

We have been trying to encourage the local bird population by feeding them. It has been a long process but we have had some success in attracting a lot of different varieties of birds to the garden.

One of the more unusual visitors is this great spotted woodpecker.

This was the second time I’d seen it in the garden and fortunately, my camera was to hand. There have been many bird photo opportunities missed in the last couple of years through not having the camera accessible.

Settings: 1/640s, f/2.8, ISO 100. Lens: EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM @180 mm.
